Dana Whitney joined Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty as Director of Marketing in 2012 after moving back to Maine from Southwest Florida. After working closely with successful agents for over 12 years (including her mom, Ginny Whitney), she decided to expand into the sales side of the business as well. Prior to working in that position, she had started her own web design, graphic design, and branding company.
In addition to her creative background, Dana has a strong background in property management, having worked as a Property Manager and Area Director for luxury apartment communities in Southwest Florida for over 10 years, at times overseeing as many as 650 apartments. While in property management, she held several positions in the Southwest Florida Apartment Association for 7 years, eventually becoming the President.
While in Florida, she saw the opportunity that real estate offered and bought, then renovated, and either rented or sold many homes. Her experience in property management and creative eye allowed her to see the income potential in homes and create incredible opportunities.
Dana is a mom to three adult sons. A true “boy mom”, she was active in the youth football community for 6 years serving as President of both the local youth football league as well as the Southern Maine Youth Football League. Although starting their lives in Florida, all three boys are currently in Maine, where Dana considers home.
Dana enjoys traveling, live music, and an active lifestyle, including boating, paddleboarding, camping, running, kayaking, pickleball, and downhill skiing. She has run several marathons, half marathons, and long-distance relay races, and she and her youngest son enjoy running 5Ks together.
